Chordates are animal possess notochord ,dorsal hollow nerve cord and pharyngeal gill slits at any stage of life. They show following features-

• They have vertebral column and internal skeleton.
• They have bilateral symmetry and are triploblastic.
• They have coelomic cavity.
• Their body is differentiated into tissues and organs.
• Their body consists   head, neck, trunk  and tail.
• They have two pairs of fins or limbs.
• The respiration in aquatic forms is by gills and in land  forms respiration is by lungs.

Chordates are classified in  "Pisces  ,Amphibians ,Reptilia ,Aves & Mammal.
                                                              
                                                              Pisces
These are the aquatic chordates
•         These are known as fishes .
•         Their skin is covered with scales or plates
•         They respire by gills.
•         They have streamlined body and fins which help them to move in water.
•         They are cold blooded and their heart has only two chambers.
•         They lay eggs from which the young ones hatch out.
•          Cartilaginous fish  have skeleton made of cartilage like Sharks, Rays etc.
•          Bony fish have skeleton made of bones and cartilage like Tuna, Rohu etc.


                                                                 Amphibians 
Amphibians can live in water an on land.
•         They are found in land and water.
•          They do not have scales but have mucous glands on their skin.
•          They are cold blooded and the heart is three chambered.
•          Respiration is through gills or lungs.
•          They lay eggs in water.
•             Eg :- Frogs, Toads, Salamanders etc.

                                                    Reptilia 
These are creeping chordates .
•         They have scales and breathe through lungs.
•         They are cold blooded.
•         Most of them have three chambered heart but crocodiles have four chambered heart.
•         They lay eggs with hard covering in water.
•            Eg :- Snakes, Turtles, Lizards, Crocodiles etc.
Examples of Reptiles
                                                
                                            Aves  (Birds)
 These are flying chordates -
• They are warm blooded animals.
• They have four chambered heart. 
• They breathe through lungs.
• They have a beak.
• They have an outer covering of feathers. 
• Their two fore limbs are modified into wings for flying. 
• They lay eggs.
   Eg :- Crow, sparrow, Pigeon, Duck, Stork, Ostrich etc.

                                                               Mammals
•         They are warm blooded animals.
•         The skin has hairs and sweat glands.
•         They have four chambered heart.
•         They have mammary glands for production of milk to nourish their young ones.
•         Most of them give birth to their young ones. Some of them lay eggs (like Platypus and Echidna).
           Eg :- Cat, Rat, Dog, Lion, Tiger, Whale, Bat, Humans etc.

मानव का हृदय गुलाबी रंग का एवं शंकु के आकार का होता है । यह वक्ष गुहा में फेफड़ों के बीच स्थित होता है । हृदय का वाह्य   आवरण दो स्तर   का होता है जिसे “ पेरिकार्डियम (Pericardium) ” कहा जाताहैं । पेरिकार्डियम के भीतर एक गुहा   होती है  जिसे “पेरिकार्डियल गुहा (Pericardial Cavity) ” कहा जाता हैं और इस गुहा में “ पेरिकार्डियल   द्रव (Pericardial Fluid) ” भरा होता है यह ह्रदय को नम बनाए रखता है और हृदय स्पंदन की समय हृदय को घर्षण से भी बचाता है तथा वाह्य आघात   से हृदय की रक्षा करता है।   मानव हृदय अन्य स्तनधारियों की तरह चार कक्षीय होता है . ऊपर के कक्ष अलिंद (Atrium) कहलाते हैं जबकि नीचे के कक्ष निलय (Ventricle) कहलाते हैं   एवं कोरोनरी - सल्कस (Coronary sulcus) द्वारा अलग रहते हैं।    अलिंद शरीर के विभिन्न भागों से आए रुधिर को ग्रहण करते हैं जबकि निलय   द्वारा रुधिर को शरीर के विभिन्न भागों में ...

ह्रदय स्पंदन और हृदय -चक्र (Heart-beat and Cardiac-cycle)

मानव हृदय पेशी-चालित ( Mayo-genic) होता है। हृदय जब एक बार भ्रूण-काल स स्पंदन करना आरंभ करता  है तो जीवनपर्यंत रुधिर को पंप करता रहता है । हृदय –स्पंदन की शुरुआत दायें अलिंद मे स्थित सायनो-एट्रियल-नोड ( SA-Node) से होती है । इसे पेस-मेकर भी कहा जाता है । यहाँ से स्पंदन बाएँ अलिंद में फिर  एट्रिओ –वेंट्रिकुलर नोड ( AV-node) तक पहुंचता है। AV नोड से स्पंदन , बंडल आफ हिस ( A V बंडल) व पुरकींजे –सूत्रों से होता हुआ निलय की दीवारों में फैल जाता है । हृदय की पेशियों का सिकुडना “प्रकुंचन( Systole)” व फैलना “अनुशीथलन( Diastole)” कहलाता है ।   हृदय एक मिनट में 72 बार स्पंदित होता है , इसे हृदय स्पंदन की दर कहते है । हृदय –चक्र (Cardiac-cycle)  – हृदय –चक्र एक हृदय-स्पंदन में अलिंद व निलय में होने वाले प्रकुंचन व अनुशीथलन के निश्चित क्रम को दर्शाता है ।  हृदय –चक्र में क्रमबद्ध होने वाली क्रियाओं में सम्मिलित अनुशीथलन , अलिंद प्रकुंचन , निलय प्रकुंचन व निलय अनुशीथलन है । सम्मिलित अनुशीथलन ( Joint Diastole ) –यह हृदय –स्पंदन के आरंभ होने से ठीक पहल...
