This gland is located below stomach. This is a “Heterocrine or mixed” gland. Some part of this gland is exocrine and secretes digestive enzymes and some part is endocrine and secretes hormones.  Pancreas secretes following hormones-              Insulin – This hormone regulates level of sugar in blood. This hormone convert extra glucose into glycogen which is stored in liver .Deficiency of this hormone causes “Diabetes”.                   Glycogen – This hormone converts glycogen in to glucose during starvation.

This is “ H ” shaped endocrine gland in our neck.   This glands secretes hormone “Thyroxine”.  This hormone controls BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate) . This hormone is necessary for the " metamorphosis in amphibians ". Goiter – This is the enlargement of thyroid gland in scarcity of iodine. It can be surgically treated.

  This endocrine gland is pea like and   located below brain. This endocrine gland is called "Master gland" because it's hormones control the secretions of other endocrine glands of body.              The hormones released by this endocrine gland and their functions are -                        Hormone           Functions Growth hormone or Somtatotrophic hormone (STH) Promotes growth of body.
